Advancing Your DEI Practice: Introducing reMODEL and RAIN
My colleague, Dr. Rihana Mason (@drrihana), and I will be presenting our reframed and actionable models for allied health professionals at the 2023 ASHA Convention as a 1-hour seminar on Saturday, November 18 from 4-5 p.m.
As we were putting the book chapters together last year, we made the active decision to expand our framing of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The reMODEL Approach is geared toward providing actionable steps for professional development trainers to take in their presentations. The RAIN Approach was initially designed for allied health clinicians to think about how to make supports more inclusive and practical from evaluation to discharge of clients. We’ve since begun expanding the RAIN Approach to include clients and their families and post-secondary students. At the presentation, we’ll provide overviews of the models, role-play some scenarios, and provide links to materials you can use in your daily professional life.
If you’ll be attending the Annual ASHA Convention this fall, please save the date and we hope to see you there!
