I’m proud to announce the creation and addition of this Phase 1 deck of word pairs for those clients/students who just can’t quite figure out the correct placement for vocalic /r/ but can correctly produce /r/ as a consonant syllable initially. There are 20 pairs where the first word ends in an r-controlled vowel (e.g., smoother) and the following word begins with consonantal /r/ (e.g., wrinkles). This deck helps students use co-articulation to learn the correct placement for vocalic -r by capitalizing on their ability to correctly produce consonantal /r/. Therefore, students should produce the word pairs as connected word pairs, not as individual words. Click here to access this deck on the OTB Boom Cards store.
Phase 2 will present these same word pairs at the sentence level.
