Welcoming a New Year

I’m sitting in my kitchen drinking coffee on this first day of new year listening to the sound of rain. I live in the desert, so these days of gentle, steady, calming rain are not to be taken for granted.

I’m not taking it for granted. I’m relishing the sound of the rain hitting the roof of my house and dripping onto the patio. The rain will make the eucalyptus tree in the front yard smell amazing when the weather begins to clear. The dust and particles in the air will be washed away for a couple of days and will lead to spectacular views of all of the mountain ranges surrounding the valley. The tallest peaks will be snow covered. It seems to me a wonderful way to start a new year.

Wishing you peace, joy, learning, and wisdom as we begin this new year.
